HUGH WESLEY CARRINGTON, Ph.D.

Author | Keynote Speaker | Consultant | Solutionist
Change Management Specialist

Hugh helps organizations optimize performance through training and development of their members at all levels and the streamlining of organizational processes. As Founder of Bridge, Inc. and an accomplished, dynamic speaker, he blends his love of education, the study of people and research into his process-driven approach to organizational learning and development.

Before anything else, Hugh is a Christian who believes in the power of prayer.

In addition to leading Bridge, Inc., Hugh is currently also an Adjunct Professor at Long Island University in the School of Business, Department of Social Work, and the Department of Sociology and Anthropology.

While Bridge, Inc. was not “bottled” and made widely available until October of 2014, it had its beginnings in 1996. As a Ph.D. student and newly elected youth leader at a local church in Virginia, Hugh made a presentation to the church about a holistic approach to youth ministry. The innovative and engaging presentation was a new way of thinking about and implementing youth programming. After the presentation, a parent remarked, “You must be in organizational development.” He was not at the time, but he is now.

His book, Inevitable & Imminent: On Becoming a House of Prayer – The Process, draws on his scholarship in sociology and business to outline the process of how spiritual leaders and their congregations can elevate prayer in the life of a church and the individual Christian.

His second book, The Church@Prayer: 52 Weeks at the Throne of Grace, is a practical guide containing 52 essays on the transforming influence of prayer. He’s currently working on his third book: PrayerCharged: Your Ten-Minute Daily Devotional.

Hugh has held several departmental positions in local churches of a denomination that numbers almost 20 million worldwide. He is a frequent presenter at local churches and related events and has had the opportunity to observe how we as Christians approach prayer. He has had the opportunity to implement what he teaches, including his signature House of Prayer process, and knows that it works.

Hugh holds a Masters of Science in Human Resource Management from Long Island University, a Ph.D. in Sociology from American University in Washington, D.C., a Masters of Arts in Higher Education Administration and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Marketing Education from The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio.

Hugh resides in Stamford, Connecticut, and is married to the former Maxine Cenac. He is the adoring father of two children, Serina Jordan Carrington and Hugh Wesley Carrington, Jr.
