Seven Steps to a Praying Church

The PrayerMatters Method is our signature 7-step method designed to assist a church in transitioning from simply being a church to become a house of prayer.
 

First,, we ask: What is the problem?

We help leaders and members to detect the problem of prayerlessness in their church by using The House of Prayer Indicator Assessment.
 

Second, we ask: What is the impact?

We analyze and discuss the results of the assessment during the discovery session to help leaders and members understand the impact of prayerlessness in their church.
 

Third, we ask: What is the solution?

We present the solution—become a house of prayer—and offer Dr. Carrington’s book Inevitable & Imminent as the essential guide. Hugh will walk you through The House of Prayer Process and The House of Prayer Canvas, tools that will assist the spiritual leader in transitioning his/her church from simply being a church to becoming a house of prayer.
 

Fourth, we ask: How do we implement it?

We use the book and the associated 40-day reading, fasting, and prayer guide to take churches through the 40 Days of Prayer Initiative (40-DPI). The 40-DPI concludes with a celebration and certification. This includes the 4C Suite Program that endorses your church as a PrayerMatters Certified Church.
 

Fifth, we ask: What is the anticipated outcome?

The seed is now planted for your church to become a house of prayer and Dr. Carrington will consult (BCI) with the church to develop and implement purposeful prayer strategies, activities, and ministries to take the church to the next level.
 

Sixth, we ask: How do we measure it?

We will develop and implement an outcomes assessment to capture associates’ feedback and develop a summary report.  Again, Hugh will utilize his experience in research and evaluation (BRI) to develop and implement an outcomes assessment (case study).
 

Seventh, we ask: How do we sustain it?

The church must now commit to focus on prayer for a full year while nurturing the seeds of prayer that were planted. Dr. Carrington will continue to consult with the church as it transitions to the 52 Weeks of Prayer Initiative (52-WPI).

Inevitable & Imminent

We’ve been duped into removing prayer from the center of our churches and have placed it on the periphery or semi-periphery. What we’re witnessing today in our churches, and in society at large, is that legacy of prayerlessness. Church leadership may be hesitant and embarrassed to admit it, but there is a direct correlation between our spiritual weakness and our lack of corporate prayer.
